Arsenal sign Christian Norgaard from Brentford in £15m deal, adding experience and depth as the Gunners prepare for their Champions League return

Arsenal have completed the signing of Danish midfielder Christian Norgaard from Brentford in a deal worth up to £15 million. The 31-year-old has signed a two-year contract, with an option for a third season.

Arsenal sign Christian Norgaard for an initial £10 million fee, with a further £5 million tied to performance-related bonuses.

His experience and leadership qualities are expected to add depth to Arsenal’s midfield as they return to the UEFA Champions League this season.

Norgaard was a key figure at Brentford, making 196 appearances since joining from Fiorentina in 2019. He captained the club and played a pivotal role in their promotion to the Premier League and their top-flight campaigns.

“I’ve just turned 31 and had signed a new deal with Brentford. There was always a little chance that a miracle could happen with Brentford, but it was probably unrealistic to play Champions League with them,” Norgaard said.

“Now I get to hear the anthem and be a part of a Champions League campaign. It’s a childhood dream and something I didn’t think would be possible. So it’s something I’m really, really happy about.”

The midfielder becomes Arsenal’s third signing of the summer, following the arrivals of Martin Zubimendi from Real Sociedad for £60 million and Kepa Arrizabalaga from Chelsea for £5 million.
