The Gunners took the lead in the 22nd minute when Jurrien Timber headed home a Bukayo Saka corner, with Bayern goalkeeper Manuel Neuer unable to intervene. The goal highlighted Arsenal’s set-piece prowess.

Bayern responded in the 32nd minute through 17-year-old Lennart Karl, who finished a move involving Joshua Kimmich and former Arsenal forward Serge Gnabry to level the score.

The second half saw Arsenal dominate proceedings. Substitute Noni Madueke restored the lead after a loose ball from Bayern defender Dayot Upamecano, while fellow substitute Gabriel Martinelli capitalised on a mistake by Neuer to score the third.

Arsenal’s attacking intent was relentless throughout, with Neuer making several key saves to keep Bayern in the contest.

Eberechi Eze, who scored a hat-trick in Sunday’s 4-1 win against Tottenham, was also prominent but was unable to convert a couple of chances.

The victory keeps both clubs well placed to advance from the Champions League group stage, with automatic qualification to the last 16 guaranteed for the top two in each group.
