Atiku presidential form payment confirmed by ADC as former vice president prepares for the 2027 election contest

The African Democratic Congress has confirmed that former Vice President Atiku Abubakar has paid for his presidential nomination form to contest under the party’s platform ahead of the 2027 general election.

The party disclosed the development in an official statement posted on its X account on Saturday, accompanied by a payment receipt confirming the transaction.

According to the document shared by the party, the payment receipt, identified as Official Receipt No. 2881, showed that Atiku paid ₦90 million through a bank draft for the presidential nomination form. The receipt was dated Friday, May 8, 2026.

In its statement, the ADC described the move as a major political development within the party as preparations gradually intensify for the next presidential election.

“A New Chapter in Nigeria’s Democratic Journey,” the party declared.

“H.E. Atiku Abubakar, GCON, has officially received his payment receipt to contest under the platform of the African Democratic Congress ahead of the 2027 Presidential Election.”

The party said the development reflected what it described as a growing movement centred on democratic inclusion, national renewal, and people-oriented leadership.

According to the ADC, the latest step signals increasing momentum within the party as it positions itself as a credible alternative in Nigeria’s opposition landscape.

“As Nigerians continue to seek credible alternatives, the ADC remains committed to providing a strong platform built on unity, competence, economic recovery, security, and national progress,” the statement added.

The party further disclosed that the formal presentation of nomination forms would take place on Monday at the ADC National Secretariat in Abuja.

Political observers view the Atiku presidential form payment as an early but significant indication of shifting alignments ahead of the 2027 contest, especially as opposition parties begin to test alliances and strengthen internal structures.

The ADC concluded its announcement with a confident message aimed at energising supporters and party stakeholders.

“The movement is growing. Hope is rising. Expect more,” the statement read.
