Taiwo Awoniyi has opened up on his challenging spell at Liverpool FC, describing it as a defining period that ultimately shaped his rise to becoming a Premier League striker.

The Nottingham Forest forward reflected on his career journey in a recent interview, explaining how his move to Liverpool in 2015 marked the beginning of years spent on multiple loan spells across Europe.

Awoniyi admitted that joining Liverpool was a childhood dream, even though he never made a senior appearance for the club.

He said the experience gave him the platform to pursue his ambition of playing in the Premier League, despite early setbacks.

“I was hoping to play, but it didn’t happen, so I had to go on loan, which was challenging,” he said.

The Nigerian striker explained that his time on loan exposed him to different countries, cultures, and playing styles, which helped shape his development both on and off the pitch.

He noted that while the constant movement was difficult, it ultimately strengthened his understanding of professional football.

“It also helped me understand more about football and experience what players can go through when they’re on loan,” he added.

Despite the uncertainty, Awoniyi remained focused on his long-term goal of succeeding in England’s top flight.

He revealed that after several loan moves, he made a personal decision to seek stability in his career pathway.
