Barcelona staged a dominant Champions League comeback to beat Copenhagen 4-1 and qualify directly for the last 16

Barcelona Football Club came from behind on Wednesday night to secure a ruthless 4–1 victory over FC Copenhagen and qualify directly for the UEFA Champions League last 16.

The five-time European champions sealed a top-eight league phase finish with a powerful second-half display at the Estadi Olímpic Lluís Companys.

Barcelona head coach Hansi Flick watched his side recover after falling behind early to the Danish visitors.

Copenhagen stunned the hosts in the fourth minute when Viktor Dadason capitalised on a loose pass from Jules Kounde and fired past goalkeeper Joan Garcia.

Barcelona struggled for fluency in the first half but created chances through Robert Lewandowski and Eric Garcia, both denied by goalkeeper Dominik Kotarski.

Eric Garcia also struck the crossbar with a long-range effort as Barcelona pressed for an equaliser.

Three minutes after the restart, Lewandowski levelled the score, finishing from close range after Dani Olmo released Lamine Yamal down the right.

Barcelona took control after the hour mark when Yamal scored with a deflected strike from the edge of the area that looped beyond Kotarski.

The hosts extended their lead after Lewandowski went down in the penalty area under minimal contact from Junnosuke Suzuki.

Raphinha converted the resulting penalty with a powerful effort to put Barcelona firmly in command.

Substitute Marcus Rashford completed the emphatic win late on with a free-kick that slipped through Kotarski’s grasp.

The England international, on loan from Manchester United, later struck the crossbar as Barcelona pushed for a fifth goal.

Copenhagen saw a late effort from Gabriel Pereira ruled out for offside, confirming their elimination from the competition.
