The Police Command confirmed on Friday that Samuel Mbami, a National Diploma (ND) Mass Communication student of Abubakar Tatari Ali Polytechnic, lost his life after being stabbed during an attack by suspected intruders.

According to Police Spokesman Ahmed Wakil, the incident occurred around 3:00 a.m. when three armed men stormed an off-campus lodge housing two students. Mbami was stabbed in the stomach and later died from excessive blood loss.

“The student succumbed to his injuries after losing a large amount of blood,” Wakil said, noting that the motive behind the attack remains unclear.

Reacting to the tragedy, Students’ Union Government (SUG) President Usman Aliyu described the killing as “tragic and senseless.”

He called for a full investigation and urged security agencies to intensify patrols and surveillance around student lodges and campus areas to prevent further attacks.

Aliyu also appealed to students to stay calm, remain vigilant, and prioritise personal safety while authorities work to apprehend the culprits.
