According to the government, the move follows the approval of the project under Governor Hyacinth Alia’s administration to ease traffic congestion and modernise infrastructure in Makurdi.

Authorities also addressed reports concerning a building in District 4 allegedly owned by Hon. Dickson Tarkighir, stating that the structure had been marked for demolition since 2024 for violating building regulations.

The owner was reportedly advised over two years ago to remove the structure but failed to comply.
