CAF Women’s Africa Cup of Nations 2026 confirms 12 qualifiers, including Nigeria, South Africa, Morocco, and debutants Cape Verde and Malawi

The CAF Women’s Africa Cup of Nations 2026 lineup is officially set, with 12 countries securing qualification for next year’s showpiece tournament in Morocco.

Hosts Morocco, runners-up at the last two editions, will once again hope to turn home advantage into continental glory as they chase their first-ever title.

The Confédération Africaine de Football (CAF) announced the full list of qualified nations on Wednesday via its official website.

Powerhouse Nigeria, the 10-time champions, remain firm favourites to lift an 11th title, reaffirming their dominance in African women’s football.

The Super Falcons qualified comfortably and will arrive in Morocco determined to reclaim their crown.

Equally ambitious are South Africa and Zambia, both now established contenders, while Ghana, third-place finishers at the last tournament, return with renewed purpose.

This year’s qualification rounds also made history as Cape Verde and Malawi secured their maiden appearances at the finals — a landmark moment in their football journeys.

Kenya and Burkina Faso make their long-awaited returns, while Senegal, Algeria, and Tanzania also booked their spots following convincing performances.

With 12 nations confirmed, anticipation is building for a thrilling continental showdown that will not only crown Africa’s best but also serve as a qualifier for the 2027 FIFA Women’s World Cup in Brazil.

According to CAF, the four semi-finalists will earn direct World Cup qualification, while two additional teams will proceed to the intercontinental play-offs, ensuring that every fixture carries immense weight.
