Chelsea fans attack Naples raises concern as club confirms two supporters were hospitalised ahead of Champions League match against Napoli

Chelsea Football Club has urged its supporters to exercise extreme caution in Naples after confirming that two fans were attacked and hospitalised ahead of Wednesday’s UEFA Champions League match against Napoli.

Chelsea Football Club said in a statement published on its official website on Tuesday that it was aware of an incident involving travelling supporters in the Italian city and described the situation as deeply concerning.

According to the Premier League club, the two Chelsea supporters are currently receiving medical treatment in hospital, although the injuries sustained were confirmed as not life-threatening.

“The club is aware of an incident that happened on Tuesday in Naples,” Chelsea said, adding that it was in contact with the affected supporters and offering assistance where possible.

Chelsea advised all fans travelling for the Champions League fixture to remain vigilant and to strictly follow safety guidance issued ahead of the match, stressing the importance of personal awareness in the city.

Reports circulating on social media suggested that the injured supporters may have been stabbed.

However, Italian authorities in Naples have not officially confirmed the cause of the injuries, and investigations are understood to be ongoing.

Naples has previously been associated with hostile incidents involving visiting supporters, particularly during high-profile European fixtures, prompting repeated security warnings from clubs and football authorities.
