Manchester United striker Chido Obi-Martin is reportedly set for a loan move this summer, with the Premier League club making the young forward available as part of his continued development.

The 18-year-old striker has received a mixed assessment following his pre-season appearances, with Manchester United’s coaching staff believing a temporary move could provide him with the regular first-team experience needed to progress.

The club is said to favour a destination in continental Europe rather than a move to England’s lower divisions, as United look for an environment that can better support Obi-Martin’s development.

Manager Michael Carrick and his coaching team reportedly feel the forward is not yet fully prepared for the physical demands and intensity of Premier League football.

Chido Obi currently faces strong competition for attacking positions at Old Trafford, with summer arrivals and established forwards such as Benjamin Šeško, Matheus Cunha and Bryan Mbeumo ahead of him in the current senior squad pecking order.

The striker featured during United’s pre-season campaign, coming on as a substitute for 30 minutes in the club’s 5-0 victory over Rosenborg. However, he was left out of the squad that travelled for the recent friendly win against Atletico Madrid.

A Chido Obi loan move would allow the forward to gain valuable competitive experience while continuing his development away from the pressure of immediate Premier League expectations.

Obi-Martin joined Manchester United after leaving Arsenal’s academy and has been regarded as one of the promising young attacking talents in English football.

His physical ability and goalscoring record at youth level have attracted attention, but the club appears keen to manage his progression carefully.
