Chukwuebuka Enekwechi finishes fifth in men’s shot put at Madrid World Indoor Tour with a 20.38m throw, showing progress ahead of peak competitions

Nigerian Olympic finalist Chukwuebuka Enekwechi secured fifth place at the Madrid World Indoor Tour after throwing 20.38 metres in the men’s shot put against a highly competitive field.

The Nigerian record holder demonstrated resilience in a meet where multiple elite competitors exceeded the 21-metre mark, underscoring the intensity of the early-season indoor circuit.

American Jordan Geist dominated with a throw of 22.04m, equalling his world lead, while Jamaica’s Rajindra Campbell recorded 21.94m for second place. Fellow American Roger Steen completed the podium with 21.88m.

Although Enekwechi fell short of a medal, his 20.38m throw reflects positive progress and a solid foundation as he sharpens his form for major competitions later in the season.

Competing against athletes already achieving elite distances, the Nigerian’s performance signals his readiness to contend at the highest level.
