Four persons abducted by unknown gunmen at CRIN Ibadan; one rescued while police intensify operations to recover remaining victims

Unknown gunmen abducted four individuals at the Cocoa Research Institute of Nigeria (CRIN) in Oluyole, Ibadan, Oyo State, on Wednesday, authorities confirmed.

The assailants reportedly stormed the nursery section of the institute before carrying out the kidnappings. Oyo State Police Command Public Relations Officer, Olayinka Ayanlade, confirmed that one of the four victims has been rescued and their vehicle recovered.

Ayanlade said the rescued individual is now in safe custody and undergoing debriefing. He added that the Commissioner of Police has deployed the Anti-Kidnapping Unit alongside tactical teams to reinforce the Idi-Ayunre Division, with intensive bush combing operations ongoing.

“Efforts are on to rescue the remaining victims and apprehend the perpetrators,” Ayanlade stated.

The incident has heightened security concerns in Ibadan, prompting authorities to urge residents to remain vigilant while police continue operations to ensure the safe recovery of the abducted individuals.
