Crystal Palace vs Tottenham ends 3–1 as Spurs collapse after a red card, deepening relegation fears in the Premier League

Crystal Palace punished Tottenham Hotspur with a damaging 3–1 victory in the Premier League on Thursday night, deepening Spurs’ relegation fears after a chaotic first half at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.

Tottenham initially took the lead through Dominic Solanke, but the match swung dramatically after defender Micky van de Ven was sent off for bringing down Ismaila Sarr in the penalty area.

Sarr calmly converted the penalty before Jørgen Strand Larsen added a second goal. Sarr then struck again moments later as Palace scored three times in 12 devastating minutes before half-time.

The Crystal Palace vs Tottenham clash quickly turned sour for the home side as frustration spread around the stadium.

Thousands of fans left early while others jeered interim manager Igor Tudor and his players at the final whistle.

Tottenham now sit 16th in the table, just one point above the relegation zone after West Ham United secured victory against Fulham FC earlier in the week.

The defeat extended Tottenham’s alarming run to five consecutive league losses.

The club is also without a win in 11 straight top-flight matches, its worst sequence since 1975.

Spurs have managed just one victory in their last 13 home league games, raising serious fears that the club could drop out of the top division for the first time since the 1977–78 season.

Tottenham’s problems began almost immediately as Palace midfielder Adam Wharton forced an early save from goalkeeper Guglielmo Vicario.

Palace thought they had taken the lead through Sarr earlier in the half, but a VAR review ruled the effort offside.

Tottenham briefly lifted the crowd in the 34th minute when youngster Archie Gray delivered a low cross that Solanke converted from close range.

The momentum quickly disappeared when Van de Ven tugged Sarr inside the penalty area, earning a red card and handing Palace the chance to equalise.

After Sarr’s penalty restored parity, Palace seized control. Strand Larsen drilled home from close range before Sarr completed the ruthless turnaround just before half-time.

The atmosphere turned toxic as the visitors sealed a commanding lead and Tottenham supporters streamed toward the exits.

Tottenham now face a critical run of fixtures, including a trip to Liverpool FC on March 15 and a UEFA Champions League last-16 clash against Atlético Madrid.

However, the club’s immediate concern remains survival in the Premier League as the season enters its decisive phase.
