The decision was announced in Abuja on Saturday by the party’s National Publicity Secretary, Muhammed Ishaq, after the National Working Committee approved the report of the Primaries Appeal Committee.

The clearance marks a significant step in the Donald Duke 2027 Presidential Race, confirming the former Cross River State governor as the party’s flagbearer for next year’s presidential election.

According to Ishaq, the National Working Committee upheld the outcomes of the party’s primaries for governorship, Senate, House of Representatives and state House of Assembly positions across the country.

He said all candidates who emerged from the exercises had been cleared to participate in the 2027 elections, except for the Tarauni Federal Constituency primary election in Kano State, which was nullified.

The party did not immediately provide details regarding the reasons for the nullification.

Ishaq disclosed that the PRP would field a total of 420 candidates for various elective offices nationwide during the general elections.

He added that the party remains committed to internal democracy, transparency and service-oriented leadership.

The spokesman also expressed confidence that the party’s candidates would offer Nigerians a credible alternative ahead of the elections.

The clearance of Duke strengthens preparations for the Donald Duke 2027 Presidential Race as political parties continue to finalise their candidate lists and campaign structures ahead of the nationwide polls.

Duke, who served as governor of Cross River State from 1999 to 2007, remains one of Nigeria’s most recognisable political figures and has previously contested for the presidency.
