Falconets arrive Bielsko-Biala for Thursday’s FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup last-16 tie with England after Nigeria’s 10-1 win in Łódź

Nigeria’s U-20 women’s team, the Falconets, arrived in Bielsko-Biała, Poland, on Tuesday, 15 September 2026, for a FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup Round of 16 match against England.

Coach Moses Aduku’s side will play at Stadion Miejski Bielsko-Biała on Thursday, 17 September, with kick-off at 3pm local time, 2pm in Nigeria.

The Falconets finished second in Group F with four points. Spain took the group with nine points after three wins.

Nigeria lost 2-0 to Spain and drew 0-0 with China PR in Sosnowiec, then moved to Łódź and beat tournament debutants New Caledonia 10-1 at Stadion Miejski ŁKS.

That result, Nigeria’s biggest win of the tournament, lifted goal difference to plus seven and put the Falconets ahead of China, who also finished on four points.

Ramotalahi Kareem scored a hat-trick, including a penalty in the 17th minute. Rebecca Adegbemile scored twice. Winner Onajite David came off the bench for a second-half hat-trick.

Seimeyeha Janet Akekoromowei and Tosin Rafiu also scored. Joceline Kourevi replied for New Caledonia in the 89th minute.

England finished second in Group B with four points behind Brazil. The Young Lionesses drew 1-1 with Canada, beat Tanzania 5-1 and lost 1-2 to Brazil, all in Bielsko-Biała. Thursday’s tie is therefore on England’s group ground.

Nigeria have reached this World Cup final twice, in 2010 and 2014, losing to Germany on both occasions, and have qualified for every edition since 2002. Some reports say Nigeria are the only African side left in the last 16.

Nigeria Football Federation acting general secretary Dr Emmanuel Ikpeme praised the New Caledonia display. “The Presidency through the National Sports Commission, the NFF and Nigerian football stakeholders, and I believe all Nigerians at home and in the diaspora, are very proud of the outing of the Falconets against New Caledonia. They showed the true Nigeria spirit and overcame the odds when it mattered most.”

Arrival in Bielsko-Biała ends a three-city group tour. A 10-1 scoreline against a debutant inflates confidence and goal difference.

England present a different test: organised, already used to this pitch, and coming off a loss to Brazil rather than a rout.
