Falconets Malawi World Cup qualifier sees Nigeria’s U-20 women arrive Lilongwe ahead of decisive second leg against Malawi in World Cup race

Nigeria’s Falconets have arrived in Lilongwe ahead of their decisive second leg fixture against Malawi in the 2026 FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup qualifying series, with confidence high following a strong first leg performance.

Nigerian side, led by coach Moses Aduku, secured a 2-0 victory over Malawi’s Young Scorchers in the first leg played at the Remo Stars Stadium in Ikenne last weekend, placing them in a strong position ahead of the return leg.

The reverse fixture is scheduled to take place on Saturday at the Bingu National Stadium in Lilongwe, where both teams will battle for a place in the next round of qualification.

Falconets have maintained an impressive away record in the ongoing qualifiers, winning all their matches on foreign soil so far.

They previously defeated Rwanda 1-0 away in the opening round before edging Senegal 2-1 in the second round, demonstrating resilience and consistency on the road.

With qualification for the FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup in Poland at stake, the encounter is expected to be fiercely contested as Malawi look to overturn their deficit while Nigeria aim to protect their advantage.

Coach Moses Aduku’s side will be hoping to continue their strong run of form and secure another positive result that will move them closer to securing a place at the global tournament.
