FIFA unveils Women’s Champions Cup trophy in London ahead of semi-finals, inspiring young fans and highlighting women’s global club football

FIFA unveiled the FIFA Women’s Champions Cup trophy on Monday in London, marking a historic milestone ahead of the first global women’s club competition.

The ceremony, held near Brentford Stadium, the venue for Wednesday’s semi-finals, featured former England international Alex Scott and FIFA Chief Football Officer Jill Ellis, a two-time Women’s World Cup-winning coach.

School pupils attended, witnessing the trophy up close and receiving official tournament merchandise.

Jill Ellis said the event highlighted football’s power to inspire young people.

“It was a pleasure to spend time with the children and witness their excitement as they saw the trophy up close. I can’t wait to see them in the stadium in just a few days,” she said.

Alex Scott, serving as tournament ambassador, described the competition as a landmark moment for women’s club football, bringing champions from every continent together.

“The quality on display is expected to inspire young players and fans alike,” she said.

The semi-finals at Brentford Stadium on Wednesday feature Concacaf champions Gotham FC of the United States against Brazil’s SC Corinthians, and UEFA Women’s Champions League holders Arsenal Women FC versus ASFAR of Morocco.

The tournament concludes on Sunday, February 1, at Arsenal Stadium with the third-place play-off and final.

FIFA emphasised that the Women’s Champions Cup aims to raise the global profile of women’s football, providing visibility for elite female players and promoting the continued growth of the women’s game worldwide.
