Glo Samsung Galaxy Z Fold8 Launch brings new foldable smartphones, free data rewards and premium customer benefits to Nigeria

Globacom Limited and Samsung Electronics have strengthened their technology partnership with the launch of the Galaxy Z Fold8 Ultra and Galaxy Z Fold8 smartphones in Nigeria, unveiling the devices at an exclusive masterclass held at Gloworld on Adeola Odeku Street, Victoria Island, Lagos.

The event highlighted the companies’ continued collaboration to expand access to premium mobile technology while offering Nigerian customers enhanced digital experiences through advanced devices, network services and exclusive promotional packages.

As part of the rollout, customers who purchase either Galaxy Z Fold8 model from any Gloworld outlet nationwide will receive 18GB of free Glo data, comprising 3GB monthly for six months, alongside a Glo eSIM with a Premium Number and an additional 10GB monthly bonus data for six months.

The package also includes benefits valued at up to ₦1 million, including Samsung Care+ protection and flexible payment options, as both companies seek to encourage wider adoption of high-end smartphones in Nigeria’s growing digital economy.

The Launch also featured Samsung’s recognition of Globacom’s contribution to the success of its foldable smartphone portfolio.

Samsung presented Globacom with its Foldable Legacy Award, acknowledging the telecom company’s role in promoting Samsung’s innovative devices among Nigerian consumers.

Speaking during the masterclass, Solomon Osibeluwo, Samsung’s Product Manager for EIP and MNOs Business, described the relationship between both companies as a partnership built on trust, innovation and shared commitment.

“The collaboration with Globacom is founded on years of mutual trust and shared vision,” Osibeluwo said, praising the telecom company for helping customers experience Samsung’s latest technologies.

According to Osibeluwo, the Galaxy Z Fold8 series represents a significant step forward in smartphone innovation.

The devices are powered by the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 for Galaxy processor and feature improved performance, advanced Galaxy AI capabilities and smoother multitasking.

He explained that the new foldable smartphones introduce a passport-inspired design, making them slimmer, lighter and easier to carry while maintaining the productivity benefits associated with foldable technology.

The devices also feature brighter displays supported by Vision Booster and anti-reflective technology, improving visibility in outdoor environments.

Samsung said the built-in Galaxy AI tools are designed to support communication, content creation and workplace efficiency.

Also speaking at the event, Mohamed Rabie, Director of Gloworld, described the launch as another milestone in the long-standing relationship between Globacom and Samsung.

Mohamed Rabie said the partnership has consistently delivered innovative devices, special promotions and improved customer experiences by combining Samsung’s artificial intelligence-powered technology with Globacom’s network services.

“By combining Samsung’s AI-powered technology with Globacom’s reliable network and personalised services, customers are able to work smarter, create more and remain seamlessly connected,” Rabie said.

The pre-order period for the Galaxy Z Fold8 Ultra and Galaxy Z Fold8 began on July 22 and will continue until August 20 at Gloworld outlets nationwide.

Customers taking part in the early access programme will receive exclusive benefits from both companies.

The masterclass also included live demonstrations of the new smartphones, allowing business partners, technology enthusiasts and media representatives to explore the devices’ artificial intelligence features, productivity tools and foldable design capabilities.

The launch reinforces the growing competition among technology companies and telecom operators to provide premium digital solutions in Nigeria, where demand for advanced smartphones and reliable mobile services continues to expand.
