Governor Agbu Kefas launches EMR4SHF and HRH database in Taraba to digitize healthcare, improve patient records, and strengthen workforce management

Governor Agbu Kefas of Taraba State has launched two major digital health platforms designed to transform healthcare delivery and workforce management in the state.

The flag-off, held over the weekend in Jalingo, introduced the Electronic Medical Records for Secondary Healthcare Facilities (EMR4SHF) and the Human Resources for Health (HRH) Database.

Commissioner for Health, Dr. Bodiya Gbansheya Buma, represented the governor at the ceremony.

Governor Kefas described the initiative as a critical milestone toward digitizing healthcare services, improving efficiency, and enhancing patient care.

He said the EMR4SHF will streamline patient documentation, improve coordination among providers, and ensure that accurate and up-to-date records are maintained across secondary health institutions.

The HRH database, he added, is designed to centralize information on health personnel deployment, performance, and training needs, enabling better planning and management in the sector.

Reaffirming his administration’s commitment to people-centered healthcare, Kefas urged stakeholders to support the sustainability of the platforms.

Dr. Garba Danjuma, Executive Secretary of the Taraba State Health Services Management Board (HSMB), explained that both platforms form part of the newly developed Electronic Data Management System (EDMS).

He said the secure system is hosted at the HSMB headquarters in Jalingo and features a live dashboard accessible to authorized stakeholders.

According to Danjuma, the EDMS will deliver wide-ranging benefits, including:

* Integration of workforce and service delivery indicators for performance tracking
* Real-time data on staff postings, training, and performance
* Capacity building for HSMB personnel in system management and data analysis
* Automated dashboards for timely decision-making
* Remote access for statewide facility monitoring
* Improved accuracy and timeliness of health reports
* Strengthened institutional capacity for evidence-based planning

“This initiative marks a critical milestone in our journey toward digital transformation and improved governance in the health sector,” Danjuma said.
