Akwa Ibom governor supports Comfort Emmanson as he calls for calm and unity following her widely publicized clash with Ibom Air.

Governor Pastor Umo Eno announced that his administration will stand by both the embattled passenger and the state-owned airline, describing them as integral parts of Akwa Ibom.

The governor made this statement during a grand reception in his hometown of Nsit Ubium on Saturday. While he did not disclose the nature of the support, Eno emphasized that Comfort Emmanson and Ibom Air both “belong to Akwa Ibom State and should be supported.”

Emmanson, who was briefly remanded after her altercation with crew members, was later pardoned by Aviation Minister Festus Keyamo. In a recent interview, she revealed that the incident left her traumatized and struggling to interact with people.

Governor Eno urged residents not to take sides, stressing that unity is more important than apportioning blame.

“Whatever had transpired, we will solve the problem. It was a small mistake, both parties belong to us. The lady is our daughter,” he said.

He further encouraged Akwa Ibom people to continue showing pride in Ibom Air, which he described as the flagship airline of the state, noting that critics should not be given room to spoil the image of the airline or the people.

The governor’s intervention brings a hopeful tone to a saga that had stirred emotions across the state, signaling a reconciliatory approach to resolving conflicts involving Akwa Ibom indigenes and institutions.
