Great Ogboru ADC primary victory confirmed as businessman defeats rival in Delta governorship primary ahead of 2027 election

Renowned businessman and politician Great Ogboru on Monday, 25 May 2026, emerged as the governorship candidate of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) in Delta State after recording a commanding victory in the party’s primary election conducted across the state.

The Great Ogboru ADC primary victory was announced at the party secretariat in Asaba by Chairman of the Primary Election Committee, Prof. Sambo Williams, who described the exercise as peaceful, transparent and orderly.

According to the official results, Great Ogboru secured 38,151 votes to defeat his only challenger, Dr. Emmanuel Unuafe, who polled 1,182 votes in the contest held across the 25 local government areas of Delta State.

The primaries also covered contests for the State House of Assembly, House of Representatives and Senate seats, with party delegates and members participating actively under tight security arrangements.

Prof. Williams commended aspirants, delegates and party officials for maintaining discipline throughout the process, noting that all contestants were given equal opportunities in line with the party’s constitution and electoral guidelines.

He stated that the successful conduct of the exercise demonstrated the ADC’s commitment to transparency, fairness and internal democracy ahead of the 2027 general elections.

The Great Ogboru ADC primary victory has strengthened the party’s preparations for the upcoming governorship race, with party leaders expressing optimism about the ADC’s growing political influence in Delta State.

Williams urged all aspirants and their supporters to put aside differences and unite for the collective success of the party, stressing that the interests of the ADC must take precedence over individual ambitions.

Supporters of Great Ogboru erupted in celebration shortly after the announcement of the results, expressing confidence that his emergence would significantly boost the party’s electoral prospects in the state.
