Gunmen abduct son of prominent trader during night raid in Faruruwa community, Kano State, sparking fear and police investigation

 

Tension has gripped the Faruruwa community in Shanono Local Government Area of Kano State following a brazen attack by unidentified gunmen on Thursday evening. The assailants abducted the son of a prominent trader during the incident, which occurred around 7 p.m.

Eyewitness reports indicate that the attackers stormed the quiet community, firing sporadically into the air to instil panic among residents. Ibrahim Faruruwa, a local witness, confirmed that the attackers had initially targeted a well-known businessman, Alhaji Haruna Halilu.

“When they couldn’t get Alhaji Haruna, they abducted his son, Mas’ud,” Ibrahim recounted.

The Kano State Police Command has confirmed the incident. Police spokesperson SP Abdullahi Kiyawa stated that investigations are currently underway and promised that further updates will be provided once the inquiry is completed.

As of the time of this report, the number of abductees and possible casualties remains unclear.

The latest abduction adds to growing concerns over rising insecurity in parts of Northern Nigeria, where banditry and kidnapping continue to pose a serious threat to lives and property.
