At least four people were killed and two others injured in an attack by armed gunmen at Ilesha Baruba Motor Park in Kwara State on Easter Monday night

 

Tragedy struck Ilesha Baruba Motor Park in Kwara State on Easter Monday night when a group of armed gunmen attacked, resulting in the death of at least four people and injuries to two others.

The incident was disclosed by Zagazola Makama, a counter-insurgency expert specializing in the Lake Chad region, in a post on his X (formerly Twitter) handle on Tuesday.

Citing intelligence sources, Makama reported that approximately 10 gunmen opened fire indiscriminately on individuals relaxing at a local joint within the motor park around 9:30 PM on Monday.

According to the security expert, among those killed in the attack have been identified as Alhaji Ja’awire, Abduljabar, and Mohammed Nasamu. The identities of the other deceased victims are yet to be confirmed.

Makama further stated that, “The security forces visited the scene, where the corpses of the victims were taken to Ilesha Baruba Morgue for autopsy, while the injured were rushed to the hospital for treatment.”

The motive behind the attack remains unclear, and authorities are expected to launch an investigation into this tragic incident. The attack has undoubtedly caused fear and grief within the Ilesha Baruba community.
