Nigerian troops of Operation Lafiyan Jama’a successfully repelled a militia attack in Teegbe community, Plateau State, killing one suspect and capturing two others after a pursuit into Kaduna State

Gallant troops of Operation Lafiyan Jama’a successfully thwarted a brazen militia attack in Teegbe community, Plateau State, on Wednesday morning.

The swift response of the troops resulted in the death of one armed suspect and the capture of two others following a dramatic pursuit into neighbouring Kaduna State.

The militia attack, which commenced at approximately 9 a.m., prompted distress calls from Teegbe residents as gunmen invaded the area. Responding rapidly, troops engaged the attackers in a fierce gun battle, forcing the assailants to retreat into the dense bushes of Baduru Sama, located in Kaduna State.

Undeterred, the soldiers pursued the fleeing criminals and re-engaged them. In the ensuing clash, one militia member was neutralized, and two others were apprehended. The captured suspects were identified as 40-year-old Sani Adamu and 20-year-old Buhari Mohammed.

In a significant breakthrough, the troops recovered 42 stolen cows and a cash sum of ₦20,200 from the neutralized suspect, who is believed to be a local bandit.

Tragically, the attack resulted in the loss of two Teegbe residents, while another individual sustained serious injuries and was immediately transported to a hospital for urgent medical attention.

According to counter-insurgent expert Zagazola Makama, one soldier, identified as Lance Corporal Tope Awoniyi, also sustained injuries during the operation and is currently receiving treatment at the 3 Division Medical Services and Hospital.

The captured suspects are now in custody, and investigations are ongoing to gather further information. Meanwhile, the morale of the military remains high as troops intensify their operations to hunt down any remaining threats and ensure the safety and security of the area.
