The election, held on Tuesday night, saw Doguwa secure the top position after resigning as Commissioner for Water Resources, a move previously accepted by Abba Kabir Yusuf, allowing him to participate in the party’s internal electoral process.

Doguwa’s election positions Governor Yusuf’s close allies in key party roles, consolidating the governor’s influence in Kano, while supporters of Senator Barau Jibrin and former APC National Chairman Dr Umar Abdullahi Ganduje have also been strategically represented in the new leadership.

Other officials elected include Salisu Maje-Gwangwazo as Deputy Chairman, Prof. Yusuf Sabo-Bichi as State Secretary, and Fatima Dala as State Woman Leader.

The newly formed 28-member executive committee is tasked with strengthening party cohesion and preparing for upcoming political engagements across Kano’s 44 local government areas.

During his acceptance speech, Doguwa pledged to work inclusively with all party stakeholders, prioritising grassroots mobilisation and unity to reposition the party for future electoral success.
