Ifeanyi Ekwueme resigns as Enyimba Sporting Director to focus on personal business, ending his tenure at the NPFL club after two seasons

Former Super Eagles winger Ifeanyi Ekwueme has resigned as Sporting Director of Nigeria Premier Football League side Enyimba, the club confirmed on Thursday.

Ekwueme, who was appointed ahead of the 2023/24 season, cited a desire to concentrate on his personal business interests as the reason for stepping down.

During his tenure, Ekwueme worked closely with former teammate Nwankwo Kanu, the chairman of the Aba Giants, contributing to the club’s sporting strategies and player development initiatives.

Enyimba have struggled in recent campaigns despite a promising start, with experienced tactician Stanley Eguma dismissed last year.

Deji Ayeni currently oversees the team’s coaching responsibilities.

The NPFL side thanked Ekwueme for his contributions and wished him success in his future endeavours.
