Imo State police arrest suspects in separate murder and rape cases in Orlu, charging them in court and pledging continued security efforts

Police operatives apprehended 39-year-old Ifeanyi Odinka of Amaifeke, Orlu, for allegedly stabbing his 75-year-old father, Dennis Odinka, to death following a dispute over proceeds from a land sale. The incident occurred on August 12, 2025, and the suspect has reportedly confessed to the crime.

He has been transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department in Owerri for further investigation and prosecution.

In a separate case, 32-year-old Pastor Ikenna Emmanuel, of Authentic Power City Church, and his accomplice, Franklin Chizoba, were arrested for allegedly raping a 20-year-old woman under the guise of offering special prayers.

Police say the pastor laced the victim’s drink, making her dizzy before both men committed the assault. The suspects have also admitted to engaging in homosexual acts.

Both Emmanuel and Chizoba were charged in court on August 12, 2025, and remanded at the Owerri Correctional Facility pending trial.

Imo State Police spokesperson Henry Okoye reaffirmed the command’s determination to tackle crime, urging residents to remain vigilant and report suspicious activities promptly to the nearest police station or via 0803 477 3600.
