According to the Revolutionary Guards, 13 suspected insurgents were killed and several others captured during coordinated operations across Iranshahr, Khash, and Saravan.

The raid comes in response to a deadly ambush last Friday in Iranshahr that left five Iranian policemen dead.

The suspects were allegedly members of Jaish al-Adl, a Sunni jihadist group that later claimed responsibility for the attack via Telegram.

Sistan-Baluchistan, Iran’s southeastern province bordering Pakistan and Afghanistan, remains a hotspot for militant activity.

The region, home to a marginalized Sunni Muslim Baluch community, has long seen clashes between government forces and armed groups, including drug traffickers and separatists.

Iranian media labeled the suspects as “terrorists,” underscoring the state’s growing crackdown on militants believed to be supported by foreign enemies, including Israel Saturday also saw six other militants killed in a related operation.
