Former England international James Milner has announced his retirement from professional football, drawing the curtain on a remarkable career that spanned more than two decades in the Premier League.

He began his professional career at Leeds United before featuring for Newcastle United, Aston Villa, Manchester City, Liverpool and Brighton & Hove Albion.
