The Jigawa Pension Scheme disbursement of over N1.5 billion has been distributed to 569 retirees, ensuring timely retirement benefits and improving welfare

The Jigawa Pension Scheme disbursement has brought significant relief to 569 retirees as the state’s Pension Scheme Board distributed over N1.5 billion to beneficiaries.

Dr. Binyaminu Shitu, Executive Secretary of the Jigawa State and Local Government Contributory Pension Scheme Board, disclosed the payment details on Monday at the Pension House in Dutse.

The total sum of N1,505,449,327.78 covered retirement benefits, death benefits, and death pension balances.

Breaking down the beneficiaries, Dr. Shitu said 287 retirees were from the state service, 158 from local governments, and 124 from Local Education Authorities (LEAs).

Payments included N875,625,045 for state service retirees, N355,025,795.72 for local government retirees, and N274,798,487.06 for LEA beneficiaries.

The Executive Secretary reaffirmed the Board’s commitment to timely monthly pension disbursements, which are scheduled for the first week of each month.

He also highlighted the state government’s dedication to enhancing worker welfare, ensuring a secure and fulfilling post-retirement life.

Jigawa’s pension model has been recognized as one of the best in Nigeria, attracting visits from over twenty states eager to learn from its exemplary system.

Dr. Shitu praised Governor Namadi for his unwavering support toward the scheme’s improvements since the start of his administration.

The disbursement event was attended by dignitaries including the State Head of the Civil Service, Muhammad Dagaceri.

Retirees at the event expressed deep gratitude. Sabitu Umar described the payments as “a big relief,” while Abdullahi Musa praised the Pension Board’s efforts in ensuring timely benefits.

Muhammad Nuhu urged continued government support for retirees to maintain timely disbursements.
