Caleb University students and lecturers experience Jumia Nigeria’s headquarters and fulfilment centre, gaining insights into e-commerce operations and logistics

An educational visit to the corporate headquarters and fulfilment centre of Jumia Nigeria has left students and lecturers of Caleb University describing the experience as inspiring and transformative.

The academic delegation, led by Dr. Ayorinde Oduroye, Head of the Department of Computer Science, aimed to bridge the gap between theoretical instruction and real-world e-commerce operations.

During the visit, students observed technology-driven logistics, warehouse management systems, and integrated supply chain processes.

Dr. Oduroye said, “We actually didn’t expect an experience as intensely inspiring as what we had here at Jumia Nigeria headquarters today. We teach e-commerce in our classes, but we’ve seen a lot here that will enhance my teaching and impact the students tremendously.”

Students, including Adewunmi Jesse, praised the sophistication of the operations.

“One of the things that impressed me is how complex the world of e-commerce is. I’m particularly thrilled by how efficient the workflow here is,” he said.

For Temidayo Ojo, Chief Executive Officer of Jumia Nigeria, the visit highlighted the company’s commitment to knowledge-sharing and youth empowerment.

“It’s our joy to share knowledge and inspire the next generation of industry titans who will take the mantle from where we are and reach even greater heights,” Ojo stated.

The initiative supports Caleb University’s experiential learning approach, equipping students with practical exposure that complements classroom instruction.
