Kaduna cleric Sheikh Ahmed Umar denies DSS arrest claims, saying he was only invited for questioning and released after Peter Obi’s visit

Kaduna-based cleric and African Democratic Congress (ADC) chieftain, Sheikh Ahmed Tijjani Umar, has dismissed reports claiming he was arrested and detained by the Department of State Services (DSS).

The Sheikh Ahmed Umar DSS arrest clarification comes after reports linked to former Anambra State Governor Peter Obi, who alleged that the cleric was picked up shortly after hosting him in Kaduna.

In a video circulating online, Umar stated that he was not arrested but only invited for questioning by security operatives.

He explained that he cooperated fully with the authorities and was released after the engagement, stressing that he remains free and safe.

Umar urged the public to disregard rumours suggesting detention, calling for calm and responsible communication to avoid unnecessary tension in Kaduna State.

He also appealed to supporters not to take actions that could disrupt peace, emphasizing the importance of law and order.

Speaking further, the cleric advised citizens who are dissatisfied with governance to pursue change through democratic processes such as voter registration and elections.

He encouraged Nigerians to remain peaceful and engage constructively in shaping leadership at all levels of government.
