Kano State has launched a state-owned security outfit to aid law enforcement in tackling crime, following the signing of a new bill

The Kano State Government has taken a decisive step in enhancing security by establishing a state-owned security outfit to assist law enforcement agencies in curbing crime and criminal activities across the state.

This development follows Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf’s assent to the **Kano State Security Neighbourhood Watch Bill 2025**, which was passed last week by the Kano State House of Assembly.

The signing took place on Tuesday at the Government House, Kano.

Alongside the security bill, the governor also signed into law the **Kano State Metropolitan Area Transport Authority (Amendment) Bill 2025** and the **Kano State Centre for Disease Control and Prevention Bill 2025**.

The brief signing ceremony was attended by Deputy Governor Comrade Aminu Abdulsalam Gwarzo, members of the state Executive Council, and lawmakers.

A statement released by the governor’s spokesperson, **Sanusi Bature Dawakin Tofa**, confirmed that the bills were signed at the commencement of the **25th Kano State Executive Council meeting**.

Governor Yusuf reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to delivering the **dividends of democracy** and ensuring rapid socioeconomic development.

He emphasised that his government remains dedicated to implementing policies aimed at **improving the lives of Kano State citizens**.
