Security operatives in Kwara State arrest a bandit disguised as a beggar in Igbaja, highlighting new infiltration tactics used by criminal gangs in the region

Security operatives in Igbaja, Ifelodun Local Government Area, have arrested a suspected bandit disguised as a beggar, amid growing concerns about criminal gangs using deceptive infiltration tactics.

The arrest, confirmed by Elder Oyin Zubair, Coordinator of the Joint Security Watch for Kwara South Senatorial District, occurred on Tuesday evening.

Zubair explained that criminals have been disguising themselves as beggars or mentally ill individuals to evade law enforcement and move undetected through towns.

Intelligence reports indicate that some bandits from Baba Sango and Oro-Ago areas are fleeing their hideouts, with informants disguised as beggars scouting targets in other parts of Kwara South.

During interrogation, the suspect reportedly revealed he was directed by sponsors based in Kaara Market, Ajasepo, and Olayinka near Oke-Ode.

The individual has been handed over to the Kwara State Anti-Kidnapping Squad (AKS) for further investigation. Residents have been urged to stay vigilant as criminals increasingly employ disguise tactics to infiltrate communities.
