Lagos one chance kingpin arrested with gang members during Ikeja patrol. Police recover weapons, stolen items, and vow to dismantle syndicates

Lagos one chance kingpin Bode Oludayisin has been arrested alongside two gang members in what police describe as a major success against violent crime in the state.

Operatives from the Ikeja Division apprehended the 53-year-old leader, along with Michael Sowunmi, 22, and David Olawaye, 20, during a routine patrol on Agege Motor Road.

The suspects were caught in the act after a victim being robbed inside their commercial minibus raised the alarm.

The unregistered korope bus used for their operations was intercepted, and items recovered included a stolen Tecno Spark 20 smartphone, an axe, two interlock bricks, heavy stones, and a broken bottle—crude weapons used to intimidate passengers.

Investigations revealed that the syndicate posed as commercial drivers, picking up commuters from crowded hubs such as Oshodi before diverting to hidden routes, where victims were robbed at knifepoint or attacked with weapons.

Police confirmed that Oludayisin had long been on their wanted list, linked to multiple violent robberies across Lagos. His capture is seen as a critical step toward dismantling commuter-targeting gangs in the state.

The case has been transferred to the Command’s Special Squad 1 for deeper investigation and to pursue fleeing gang members.

Lagos State Commissioner of Police, CP Olohundare Jimoh, praised the Ikeja Division’s swift response.

“This arrest is a clear warning to others who prey on innocent commuters. The Lagos State Command is determined to dismantle every criminal network that threatens public safety,” he declared.
