Lasaco Lagos insurance claims worth N799.8m paid to families of 148 deceased public servants in a welfare support initiative in Lagos State

Lasaco Assurance Plc, in partnership with the Lagos State Government and key stakeholders, has paid out a total of N799.84 million in insurance claims to 148 beneficiaries representing families of deceased public servants in a welfare intervention aimed at strengthening social protection for workers’ dependents.

The Lasaco Lagos insurance claims were formally presented at a ceremony held on 11 June 2026, underscoring the state government’s commitment to supporting the families of public servants who died while in active service.

Speaking at the event, the Special Adviser to the Governor on Rural Development, Dr Nurudeen Agbaje, reaffirmed the administration’s commitment to worker welfare, stating that the initiative reflects Lagos State’s obligation to ensure that families of deceased employees are not left unsupported.

He noted that the disbursement demonstrates continuity in government responsibility beyond the lifetime of public service.

Also speaking, a representative of the Managing Director of Lasaco Assurance Plc, Mrs Jumoke Koleosho, expressed condolences to the beneficiaries and urged prudent management of the funds to ensure long-term benefit for affected families.

According to her, the insurance payouts are intended to provide financial relief and stability, particularly in areas such as education, healthcare and household welfare.

“The insurance benefits were designed to provide financial relief and long-term stability for the affected families, particularly in meeting educational, welfare and other essential needs,” she said.

Representatives from the Ministry of Local Government, Chieftaincy Affairs and Rural Development, the State Universal Basic Education Board and Haggai Insurance Brokers Limited also paid tribute to the deceased workers, describing their service as valuable to the development of Lagos State.

They jointly emphasised the importance of structured insurance schemes in strengthening public sector welfare systems and ensuring timely financial support for bereaved families.

The Lasaco Lagos insurance claims initiative highlights ongoing efforts by the Lagos State Government to reinforce employee welfare frameworks through insurance partnerships, while also boosting public confidence in financial protection systems for civil servants.

Officials further encouraged beneficiaries to utilise the funds responsibly in ways that support family stability and preserve the legacy of their deceased relatives.
