Malawi U-20 women’s head coach Maggie Chombo has expressed confidence that his side can stage a strong comeback against Nigeria’s Falconets in their FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup qualifying clash.

Malawi U-20 Falconets comeback hope comes ahead of Saturday’s decisive second-leg encounter at the Bingu National Stadium, where the Young Scorchers must overturn a 2-0 first-leg deficit.

Chombo’s team has maintained an impressive home record throughout the qualifiers, a factor the coach believes could inspire a turnaround in the tie.

Malawian side is also expected to rely heavily on home support as they aim to unsettle Moses Aduku’s Nigerian team.

Speaking ahead of the match, Chombo insisted that his players are mentally prepared and motivated for the challenge.

“The girls are ready and the mood in camp is very positive. Anything is possible in football, and I am very optimistic that we can win this game,” he said.

Nigeria’s Falconets, however, remain in a strong position after their first-leg victory and will aim to protect their advantage to secure qualification.
