Evra backs Man United Osimhen transfer push, urging a move for Victor Osimhen in a strong Old Trafford appeal

Former Manchester United left-back Patrice Evra, on Friday, 29 May 2026, in an interview with GOAL, urged Manchester United to pursue a move for Nigerian striker Victor Osimhen, describing him as a player capable of transforming the club’s attacking fortunes.

The comments come as Manchester United reportedly close in on a £38 million deal for Atalanta midfielder Ederson, who is expected to become the first signing under manager Michael Carrick.

Patrice Evra’s Man United Osimhen transfer push has added fresh debate around the club’s recruitment strategy, particularly regarding its need for a recognised centre-forward.

Evra said that despite his respect for Manchester United’s current attacking options, the club requires additional firepower to compete across all competitions, drawing parallels with the squad depth from his playing days.

He stressed that Victor Osimhen, who is currently at Galatasaray, possesses the quality and physical presence needed to make a decisive impact at Old Trafford.

“I have all due respect for Galatasaray, the love he gets there and what the player is like,” Evra said during the interview.

“Manchester United need a proper striker… back in the day, we had four amazing strikers, and if you want to play every competition, you need more strikers. Osimhen because I know this guy can make a difference.”

Man United Osimhen transfer push has been fuelled by Osimhen’s impressive form in Turkey, where he scored 22 goals last season to help Galatasaray secure the Turkish Super Lig title.

Osimhen’s performances have continued to attract attention across Europe, with speculation growing over a potential move to a major European league following his successful spell in Istanbul.

Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu surprised his wife, Dr Ibijoke Sanwo-Olu, with flowers before sharing a kiss with her at the opening ceremony of the 26th Annual National Women’s Conference in Lagos on Tuesday.

The event was organised by the Committee of Wives of Lagos State Officials (COWLSO) under the theme, “Anchored in Purpose: Be the Blueprint.”

Sanwo-Olu presented the flowers to his wife during his speech at the conference, which brings together women and leaders for discussions and activities focused on women’s empowerment and leadership.

“On behalf of COWLSO and everything that is decent, we want to appreciate you, we want to honour you,” the governor said.

The couple subsequently shared a kiss as Nigerian singer 2Baba’s song, “African Queen”, played at the event.

The conference aims to inspire women, empower leaders and promote a purposeful future through discussions and activities centred on women’s development.
