Merson Arsenal transfer advice as Paul Merson urges Arsenal to sign a striker and midfielder ahead of the summer transfer window

Paul Merson, a former Arsenal star, has advised his old club to strengthen key areas in the upcoming summer transfer window following their successful campaign.

Speaking on The Good, The Bad & The Football podcast, Merson recommended that Arsenal prioritise signing a new striker and an additional midfielder to improve squad depth and attacking options.

He specifically named Atlético Madrid forward Julián Álvarez as his preferred choice for the centre-forward role, describing him as a player he greatly admires.

“I would get a centre forward this summer, I would go for Julian Alvarez,” Merson said.

He added that while Arsenal have performed well, further reinforcements in midfield are still necessary to maintain competitiveness at the highest level.

Merson’s comments come as Arsenal are expected to be active in the transfer market following a strong domestic campaign.
