Moffi warns Nigeria of a tough test against Portugal after scoring in a 2-2 draw with Poland in an international friendly in Warsaw

Super Eagles striker Terem Moffi has cautioned that Nigeria face a significantly tougher challenge against Portugal after helping the national team secure a 2-2 draw with Poland in an international friendly on Wednesday.

FC Porto forward continued his impressive form for the Super Eagles, scoring for the second consecutive match as Nigeria extended their unbeaten run in recent friendlies.

Moffi had earlier found the net in Nigeria’s 3-0 victory over Jamaica in the Unity Cup final and maintained his sharp finishing with another crucial strike against Poland.

He opened the scoring in the 23rd minute, calmly converting a well placed pass from Moses Simon to give Nigeria early control of the encounter.

Nigeria dictated large spells of the match but were undone just before half time when a lapse in concentration from a corner allowed Nicola Zalewski to restore parity for the hosts.

Super Eagles regained the lead in the second half after a handball incident inside the box, with Paul Onuachu converting confidently from the penalty spot to put Nigeria back in front.

However, the victory slipped away in dramatic fashion in stoppage time when Przemyslaw Wisniewski struck from distance to secure a late equaliser for Poland.

Despite the frustration of conceding late, Moffi praised the team’s performance while urging caution ahead of their upcoming fixture against Portugal, who are expected to pose a sterner test.

“We had a good game against Poland and I am happy I scored,” Moffi said.

“However, I think Portugal will be a difficult test for the Super Eagles.”

Nigeria now shift focus to their next international friendly against Portugal on June 10, as preparations continue ahead of future competitive fixtures.
