Nigeria at 65 Unveils Patriotic Theme for Independence Day

Nigeria at 65 Independence theme announced as “All Hands on Deck for a Greater Nation”, promoting unity and shared responsibility across sectorsNigeria at 65 Independence theme has been officially unveiled by the Federal Government ahead of the country’s October 1 celebrations.

The theme, “Nigeria @ 65: All Hands on Deck for a Greater Nation,” underscores the importance of unity, collaboration and patriotism among citizens, government institutions, private entities, and civil society groups.

Announcing the theme in Abuja, the Office of the Secretary to the Government of the Federation (OSGF) emphasised its alignment with the Renewed Hope Agenda of the current administration.

The message, according to the OSGF, aims to reinforce collective responsibility in building a stronger, more prosperous Nigeria.

“Since Independence in 1960, Nigeria has overcome numerous challenges and recorded considerable growth across various sectors,” said Segun Imohiosen, Director of Information and Public Relations at the OSGF. “This year’s theme urges all Nigerians to consolidate on these achievements and commit to a shared national vision.”

In line with the theme, all government programmes and public communications are expected to reflect this call to unity and national development.

The official celebration begins with a Juma’at prayer on Friday, September 26 at 1 p.m., followed by an inter-denominational church service on Sunday, September 28 at 10 a.m..

A World Press Conference is scheduled for Monday, September 29 at 10 a.m., while the main Independence Day commemoration will take place on Wednesday, October 1, 2025.
