Nigerian Army operations across states foil terrorist attacks, arrest logistics suppliers, and rescue kidnapped victims

Nigerian Army operations carried out within a 48-hour window have led to the arrest of 11 terrorist logistics suppliers and the rescue of nine kidnapped victims across multiple states, signaling renewed momentum in the military’s nationwide crackdown on insecurity.

A credible source at Army Headquarters disclosed on Tuesday in Abuja that troops also recovered N1.1 million in cash, a pump-action rifle, four cartridges, petroleum products, and 114 livestock during the coordinated missions.

In Gubio, Borno State, troops of 149 Battalion apprehended eight suspects believed to be supplying logistics to Boko Haram and ISWAP insurgents.

The operatives uncovered 28 jerrycans and a drum of petrol, hidden within shops and a POS center, along with ₦145,510 in cash and five mobile phones.

Separately, in Mowe, Ogun State, troops of 9 Brigade arrested a dismissed soldier, ex-Lance Corporal Emefik Michael, for allegedly extorting money from residents while impersonating military personnel in full camouflage.

He has since been handed over to police authorities for prosecution.

In Katsina State, troops of 17 Brigade foiled a terrorist raid in Gidan Kwairo village, rescuing five hostages after the attackers fled.

Kaduna State troops similarly repelled a kidnapping attempt at Ungwan Bera village, rescuing four victims, including two children. Two sustained injuries and are receiving care at ECWA Private Hospital, Fadan Karshi.

In Taraba State, troops under Operation Enduring Peace intercepted two men carrying ₦1 million in cash on a motorcycle.

A preliminary investigation linked the money to the murder of a local farmer, and one suspect is still at large.

In Bayelsa State, troops from 5 Battalion, supported by the NSCDC and private security, arrested a notorious oil wellhead vandal in Okordia, Yenagoa, handing him over to the Department of State Services for further investigation.

Meanwhile, in Edo State, 4 Brigade troops raided a militant hideout in Kokotoro Camp, arresting a suspect and recovering a pump-action rifle and ammunition before destroying the criminal base.

In Plateau State, troops confiscated 105 cattle and nine rams found grazing on farmlands in Mangu LGA without herders present.

The animals were relocated to the military base while community leaders were contacted to identify their owners and resolve the matter amicably.

The Army source emphasized that the operations reflect the Nigerian Army’s unwavering commitment to dismantling terrorist networks and curbing criminal activities across the country.

“These operations are aimed at denying terrorists and other criminals freedom of action and ensuring the safety of all citizens,” the source said.
