NiMet weather forecast predicts sunny skies nationwide from Monday to Wednesday, with isolated thunderstorms in southern states later in the day

The Nigerian Meteorological Agency (NiMet) has forecast a sunny and cloudy atmosphere across Nigeria from Monday to Wednesday, with isolated thunderstorms expected in parts of the south. The agency issued the outlook on Sunday from its Abuja office.

NiMet anticipates predominantly sunny skies over the northern region throughout the forecast period.

Central states are expected to experience sunny conditions with a few patches of clouds, while the southern region will see sunny skies with occasional clouds.

Isolated thunderstorms with light rains are predicted later in the day across parts of Rivers, Bayelsa, Akwa Ibom, Cross River, Edo, Delta, Ondo, Lagos, Ogun, Oyo, Imo, Abia, and Osun States.

Residents in these areas are advised to exercise caution during afternoon and evening hours.

On Tuesday, sunny skies are expected to continue over the north, with the central region experiencing scattered clouds.

Light rains and isolated thunderstorms will affect the southern states, including Abia, Edo, Ogun, Ondo, Delta, Lagos, Rivers, Akwa Ibom, Cross River, and Bayelsa.

For Wednesday, NiMet predicts sunny and hazy conditions in parts of Jigawa, Yobe, and Borno States, while the rest of the north remains sunny.

Light rains are again anticipated over southern states including Anambra, Oyo, Edo, Ogun, Ondo, Delta, Lagos, Rivers, Akwa Ibom, Cross River, and Bayelsa later in the day.

The agency urged motorists to drive cautiously under rainy conditions and airline operators to obtain airport-specific weather reports for effective operational planning.
