Nine dead, three injured in fatal crash on Lagos-Ibadan expressway

Nine people have been confirmed dead and three others severely injured following a tragic accident in the Ayetoro area of the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway early Monday morning

 

The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), Ogun Sector Command, confirmed the incident in a statement by its Public Education Officer, Mrs Florence Okpe.

She attributed the cause of the crash to speeding and driver fatigue, which resulted in the loss of control and a collision with a stationary truck.

The accident, which occurred around 5:30 a.m., involved a Toyota Hiace bus with registration number UYY 165 ZY and a parked truck marked DKA 244 XC.

A total of 13 people were on board — 10 men and three women. Sadly, six men and three women lost their lives in the crash.

The injured victims were immediately rushed to Famobis Hospital in Mowe, while the deceased were taken to Idera Morgue in Sagamu.
