The Nigerian Defence Academy warns Kaduna residents to avoid its open range from Feb 26 to March 1 for a live-fire training exercise

The Nigerian Defence Academy (NDA) has issued a safety warning to residents of Afaka, Kauya, and Mando in Kaduna, urging them to stay away from the academy’s open range during an upcoming live-fire training exercise.

According to a statement from the NDA’s Public Relations Officer, Maj. Muhammad Maidawa, the exercise will take place from 26 February to 1 March 2025.

It is part of the advanced application of fire package designed for Army Cadets of the 72 Regular Course.

The training will involve the live firing of arms, which is essential for the development and preparedness of the cadets.

To ensure public safety, the NDA will place clear barriers and warning signs around the designated range area, marking it as a restricted zone.

“Residents, particularly farmers, pedestrians, and cattle rearers, are urged to strictly adhere to these warnings and steer clear of the area during the duration of the exercise,” Maidawa stated.

The academy emphasised its commitment to the safety and well-being of nearby communities and called for the full cooperation of residents to prevent any potential harm.

“By steering clear of the designated area, the residents can help ensure their safety and the effective training of military personnel,” Maidawa added.

This precautionary measure aims to prevent accidents and guarantee the success of the training exercise, which plays a critical role in preparing Nigeria’s future military leaders.
