NMDPRA warns Nigerians of fake recruitment scams, confirming no hiring is ongoing and advising verification through official channels

The Nigerian Midstream and Downstream Petroleum Regulatory Authority has warned the public against fraudulent recruitment schemes following viral reports claiming the agency is hiring.

The announcement was made on Monday via NMDPRA’s official X account.

The authority described the circulating recruitment advertisements as the work of unscrupulous individuals seeking to defraud job seekers.

According to the statement, the fraudsters distribute bogus employment letters, advertise non-existent positions, and demand large sums of money from applicants.

“NMDPRA is NOT conducting any recruitment exercise currently,” the agency said.

“Neither is the Agency undertaking any kind of employment in its services at any level.”

The regulator emphasised that any future recruitment will follow established procedures for employment in the Nigerian Public Service.

It directed the public to verify information through official channels, including the corporate website, Facebook, LinkedIn, and Instagram pages.

The agency also urged vigilance, warning that fake recruitment campaigns not only defraud citizens but also damage the reputation of NMDPRA. Members of the public were encouraged to report suspicious recruitment offers to the authorities.
