JAMB Offers Free UTME Applications for Persons with Disabilities

JAMB free UTME applications will help candidates with disabilities access the 2026/2027 exam, including audiobooks for blind students

The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board announced in Abuja on Monday that persons with disabilities will receive free application documents for the 2026/2027 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination.

JAMB Registrar, Professor Is-haq Oloyede, disclosed the initiative during a meeting with key stakeholders at the Board’s national headquarters.

The scheme, coordinated through the JAMB Equal Opportunity Group, covers candidates living with Down syndrome, autism, dyslexia, Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder, and other eligible conditions.

Candidates must possess at least five O’Level credits obtained in no more than two sittings to benefit.

Professor Oloyede emphasised that the initiative is part of JAMB’s ongoing commitment to the welfare of persons with disabilities, removing barriers to access and promoting equal educational opportunities.

“To support persons living with disabilities, JAMB will issue free application documents to all categories of persons living with disabilities,” he stated.

In addition to free forms, blind candidates will be provided with audiobooks, digital adaptations of conventional printed materials, in popular formats including MP3, WMV, and WMA.

This ensures accessibility across devices capable of playing audio files.

Registration for the 2026/2027 UTME session opened on 26 January and will close on 28 February.

The initiative has been welcomed by advocacy groups as a positive step towards educational inclusivity in Nigeria.
