NYSC partners with SEC to introduce investment-focused CDS for corps members, promoting financial literacy and awareness against Ponzi schemes

The National Youth Service Corps and the Securities and Exchange Commission have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to launch an investment-focused Community Development Service (CDS) group for corps members nationwide.

The initiative aims to improve financial literacy, expose young Nigerians to legitimate investment opportunities, and combat Ponzi schemes.

Corps members will receive training on identifying illegal schemes and making informed financial decisions.

As part of the programme, corps members will drive grassroots awareness in their host communities, supported by training materials, modules, and capacity-building funded by the SEC.

NYSC will integrate the programme into existing Education and Enlightenment CDS activities, including orientation camp lectures, workshops, and community outreach.

Speaking at the signing, SEC Director-General Emomotimi Agama highlighted the benefits for youth development, while NYSC DG Olakunle Nafiu emphasised early financial education as key to protecting young Nigerians from fraud.

The SEC also reiterated its commitment to cracking down on promoters of Ponzi schemes, warning that accounts may be frozen and offices sealed.

Citizens are encouraged to verify investment claims with regulators to avoid economic losses.

The partnership is expected to equip corps members with practical financial knowledge and extend awareness across local and national levels.
