Obi Cubana reveals plans to open a tricycle assembly plant in Ebonyi, citing peaceful environment, security, and infrastructure as key investment factors

Renowned entrepreneur Dr. Obinna Iyiegbu, widely known as “Obi Cubana,” has revealed plans to establish a tricycle assembly plant in Ebonyi State. This move is part of his broader strategy to expand his business operations in the state.

Iyiegbu, the Chairman of Cubana Group of Companies, made the announcement on Tuesday in Abakaliki, following a meeting with Governor Francis Nwifuru.

He expressed his enthusiasm for the state, highlighting several factors that have piqued his interest in Ebonyi as a prime location for business expansion.

“There is a peaceful environment, enhanced security, and improved infrastructure under the Nwifuru-led administration,” Iyiegbu stated. “I commend the governor for creating an enabling environment for businesses to thrive, making Ebonyi a preferred investment destination.”

The businessman emphasized that these positive factors, including the state’s strong commitment to business growth, have made Ebonyi an attractive ground for investment and economic development. He expressed confidence that his company’s investment would contribute to the state’s ongoing progress.

The planned expansion will focus on the assembly and sale of tricycles, an industry poised to offer job opportunities and stimulate economic activity in the region.

“As renowned businessmen, we cannot continue investing in other states while neglecting Ebonyi. One of our major partners is from Ebonyi, and we are committed to supporting the state government’s job creation efforts,” he added.

Iyiegbu also highlighted the importance of industrialisation and agro-business ventures in creating jobs and driving local economic growth. He assured that substantial progress would be made in the coming months as preparations for the new plant are already underway.

“We are fully committed to this investment, and necessary preparations are underway to commence operations in earnest,” Iyiegbu concluded.
