Odumodublvck honours Skepta, describing the British-Nigerian rapper as a defining influence on his career, mindset, and creative identity.

Speaking on the Culli Podcast, the Nigerian rapper expressed heartfelt gratitude to Skepta, saying the global superstar’s example guided him through his toughest years and inspired his minimalist style and fearless attitude towards music.

“If not for Skepta, I would not be here. I’m telling you, brother, if not for Skepta I would not be here,” Odumodublvck said passionately.

Recounting his early struggles, Odumodublvck said Skepta’s authenticity helped him embrace simplicity when he couldn’t afford luxury fashion or jewellery.

“When we were coming up, we didn’t have money to buy clothes. But because I was a follower of Skepta, I realised that if you can get a tracksuit pant, a white T-shirt, and nice sneakers, you can still look cool and mash up the show—even without chains,” he recalled.

Beyond style, Odumodublvck credited Skepta’s openness and collaborative spirit as a model for how he now approaches his craft.

“Skepta say, ‘If you know the hack, you tell your friend. Don’t hide it. The sky is big enough for everybody.’ Na Skepta teach us say you can make music that fits the radio, the stage, and still resonate with the streets at the same time,” he said.

He further described Skepta as a pioneer who proved that rap could be powerful without glorifying violence or materialism.

“Skepta is the OG, bro. It’s more than the music too,” he added with admiration.
